Sabrosa Wine Cooperative

Sabrosa Wine Cooperative was founded in 1958 and today has around 600 member growers, whose grapes yield roughly 3 million litres of wine a year. Its wines appear mostly under the Fernão de Magalhães label — a name that is no accident: the navigator was born in Sabrosa. It is one of the most solid examples of the cooperative model in the Douro, which gave small growers a route to market.
