Boelhe River Beach on the Tâmega

On the right bank of the Tâmega, in the parish of Boelhe, municipality of Penafiel, lies the most popular riverside spot on this stretch of the river. Locally it is known as the Boelhe River Park or Parque das Famílias, and the municipality has worked on it repeatedly — it is above all a leisure area by the water, with shade and places to sit. The Tâmega is the largest right-bank tributary of the Douro, and this stretch is a short distance from where the two rivers meet.
