Along the EN 222 in Folgosa, parish of Folgosa, municipality of Armamar, the Vista para o Douro ("view towards the Douro") is one of the stops the road offers over the river.
The panorama pairs the Douro far below with terraced slopes covered in vines, typical of the region. Folgosa received its charter from King Sancho I in 1188 and remains tied to wine: nearby lies Quinta dos Frades, which belonged to the Monastery of Salzedas from 1256, according to the parish's monograph, and is one of the largest estates in the Douro.
On the same road the municipality signposts the Passeadouro da Folgosa, a panoramic pedestrian route of about 1 km beside the river. The spot is about 5 km in a straight line from the centre of Armamar and is reached by car along the EN 222. Park carefully, as this is a national road.
