The Pelourinho de Fontelo (Fontelo pillory) stands on Rua da Veiga de Naçarães in Fontelo, parish of Fontelo, municipality of Armamar.

A pillory was the symbol of municipal authority, and Fontelo held that status: it became the head of a concelho on 17 May 1514 through a Manueline charter, with an ordinary judge, a clerk, two councillors, a procurator, a jail, a hearing house and a pillory. The municipality was abolished in 1834-1835 and merged into Armamar. We found no sources dating or listing this particular pillory, so no construction date is given.

Fontelo, raised to town status in 1999, lies beside the fertile Naçarães plain, rich in vineyards and orchards. The pillory is about 3.5 km in a straight line from the centre of Armamar and is reached by road. The town also has the São Domingos hill with its viewpoint.
