The Capela de Nossa Senhora das Dores overlooks the village of Santiago, in the parish of São Romão e Santiago, Armamar municipality, beside the EM 545 municipal road.

According to the parish history, it is one of the village's two chapels, together with Santo António, both dating from the 18th century. It stands on a rise that frames the site of the old fair, held on Sundays, where farm produce and livestock were mostly sold. The tradition lapsed but was revived in the 1980s, and the fair now takes place on the first Sunday of each month. We found no reliable data on the building's style or on the chapel's feast day.

Santiago is a village of ancient origin, with a charter from King Afonso Henriques (1169) and mentioned in the inquiries of 1258. The chapel is about 3.4 km in a straight line south of the centre of Armamar and is visible from afar because of its position. Around it grow potatoes, vines, chestnuts and cereals, with apple orchards expanding. No opening hours are published.
