The almond blossom of Torre de Moncorvo is one of Portugal's most impressive natural spectacles. Between February and March, the almond trees covering the slopes of the Serra do Reboredo and the surroundings of Torre de Moncorvo burst into bloom simultaneously, creating a landscape of almost unreal whiteness — thousands of trees in flower transforming the valleys into a cloud of white and pink petals.

Torre de Moncorvo is Portugal's largest almond producer, with over 800 hectares of almond orchards, many of them decades or even centuries old. The regional almond holds a Protected Designation of Origin (DOP Amêndoa Douro) and is recognised for its exceptional quality. The main varieties — Côa, Raza and Duro — are adapted to the extreme continental climate of the Douro Superior, with cold winters and very hot, dry summers.
