Mushrooms, Chestnuts and Poems 2026 — Casa de Mateus

On November 15, 2026, Saint Martin's Day, the Casa de Mateus Foundation in Vila Real hosts "Mushrooms, Chestnuts and Poems", a day dedicated to the forest, autumn gastronomy and the arts. The morning begins with a guided mushroom-foraging walk led by mycologist Miguel Soares through the woodland adjacent to Casa de Mateus, followed by a lunch where the foraged mushrooms are prepared and paired with regional wines.

In the afternoon, the programme continues with the opening of artist Jiôn Kim's exhibition at UmbigoLab@Mateus and a concert by the Borealis ensemble, in a setting that blends nature, art and music against the iconic backdrop of the Mateus baroque gardens.
