Vila Real Cathedral, the former Church of the Convent of São Domingos, is a beautiful example of 15th-century Portuguese Gothic architecture. Its interior houses important sacred art works and the tomb of Diogo Cão, the famous Portuguese navigator who discovered the mouth of the Congo river.
