Baixo Corgo is characterised by a stronger Atlantic influence and higher rainfall compared to the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions. At Quinta do Covelo, traditional varieties such as Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca grow on schist terraces, lending the red wines an elegant structure and refreshing acidity. Whites made from Malvasia Fina and Viosinho display remarkable minerality and freshness.
