The Resende Cherry Festival 2026 celebrates the finest fruit from Serra do Montemuro on May 30-31, in a popular celebration combining gastronomy, tradition and the natural beauty of the slopes overlooking the Douro Valley.
Resende is famous for its exceptional cherries, grown in mountain villages at an altitude that favours slow ripening and intense flavour development. The municipality produces thousands of tonnes of cherries annually, supplying markets across Portugal and Europe.
During the two festival days, Resende town centre transforms into a large gastronomic fair with stalls offering fresh cherries, jams, liqueurs, cakes and other delicacies. Entertainment includes folk concerts and traditional music.
