Alijó Hiking Trails Festival 2026

On October 17 and 18, 2026, the Alijó municipal council organizes the Hiking Trails Festival, an event dedicated to exploring the landscapes of the Alto Douro Wine Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on foot. Participants walk trails that cross terraced vineyards, villages and viewpoints over the Douro river, with stops to sample regional food and wine along the way. The festival has become one of the most anticipated autumn events on the municipal calendar, timed to coincide with the vineyards' post-harvest autumn colours. Alijó is one of the region's leading Port wine-producing municipalities, and this event is designed for visitors who want to experience the Douro actively and sustainably, away from the usual driving routes. Free admission; prior registration with the municipality is recommended.
