Lamego Harvest Festival 2026 — Festas das Vindimas

The Lamego Harvest Festival 2026 (Festas das Vindimas) celebrates the most anticipated moment of the Douro wine calendar — the grape harvest — September 11-13. In Lamego, one of the Douro Valley's most charismatic cities, ancient harvest traditions come alive with street entertainment, concerts, regional gastronomy and the opportunity to actively participate in harvest activities.

The Douro harvest typically begins in September and continues into October, varying by grape variety and annual climate conditions. This is when the hillsides fill with workers hand-picking grape bunches — a practice still maintained in many Douro quintas due to the steep terraces that prevent the use of machines.

The programme includes parades of harvest workers in traditional costumes, folk and popular music concerts, a gastronomic fair with regional specialities (alheira, cured ham, honey, almonds and of course Port wine and Douro wine), and visits to surrounding quintas where you can participate in the harvest.
