A propos de l'Evenement
The Festas Concelhias e de São Bartolomeu return to Baião from August 19 to 24, 2026, one of the liveliest traditions in this Douro-riverside municipality between Marco de Canaveses and Mesão Frio.
The celebrations traditionally open with the raising of the red-and-white municipal flag at the Parish Church of Campelo, followed by a procession that departs from the Town Hall, passes the Santa Casa da Misericórdia and winds through the town's main streets before reaching Campelo church — a ritual that has been kept alive for generations.
Over six days, the programme brings together craft fairs, gatherings of concertina and bass-drum players, and the traditional religious procession honouring Saint Bartholomew, the town's patron saint. Free open-air concerts are the highlight of the 2026 edition: fado singer Sara Correia performs on August 21, singer Matias Damásio takes the stage on August 22, and the band Os Vizinhos closes the musical programme on August 23, in what is expected to be one of the most attended nights on the Douro calendar.
Admission is free for every show. For visitors exploring the Douro Vinhateiro region, this is a genuine chance to experience a traditional Trás-os-Montes village festival, complete with local gastronomy, live music and the warm hospitality of Baião.
