About the Event
On 13 September at 9.30pm, the Teatro Municipal de Vila Real premieres "Do Terreiro ao Mundo" ("From the Threshing Floor to the World"), a new work by choreographer Clara Andermatt inspired by the Pauliteiros de Miranda, the iconic stick-dance tradition of the Miranda plateau.
On stage, four dancers — one of them from Vila Real — and two musicians build a dialogue between body, gesture and sound, carrying the ancestral memory of the Pauliteiros into the present. Direction and choreography are by Clara Andermatt, with music by Luís Pedro Madeira and the choreographer herself, artistic assistance by Vera Santos and lighting design by Pedro Cabral.
Produced by Companhia Instável with support from the Directorate-General for the Arts, the show is a commission by Teatro Municipal de Vila Real, co-produced with Companhia Instável and Centro Cultural de Lagos. Recommended for ages 6 and up, it runs around 60 minutes with free admission — a rare chance to see one of the Bragança district's most distinctive traditions reimagined for the contemporary stage, in the capital of the Trás-os-Montes Douro.
