Our Lady of Socorro Festival 2026

Peso da Régua, known as the 'capital of the Douro' for its historic role exporting Port wine, celebrates the Festival of Our Lady of Socorro from July 24 to August 17, 2026. Over more than three weeks, the town hosts an extensive programme of popular festivities, with street parties, live music, processions and food stalls along the Douro riverfront. The festival is one of the highlights of summer in Régua, coinciding with the peak season for tourists visiting the surrounding wine estates and taking river cruises from the town's pier. Home to the Douro Wine Region's regulatory commission, Peso da Régua is a common starting point for visits to the demarcated wine region, making this popular celebration a good way to pair a wine-tourism trip with authentic local culture. Most of the programme is free to attend.
