About the Event
On September 5-6, 2026, Caminhadas Smile runs "Caminhar no Douro e com Festa da Vindima" (Hiking the Douro with the Grape Harvest Festival), a two-day experience combining hikes through the UNESCO-listed Alto Douro Vinhateiro landscape with an authentic grape-harvest experience around Pinhão and Alijó. The itinerary includes the new S. Mamede de Ribatua walkways (8 km or 3.5 km options) and the S. Cristóvão do Douro trail (5 km), winding through terraced vineyards during peak harvest season.
Over the weekend, participants hand-harvest and tread grapes the traditional way, join wine tastings led by oenologists, take a rabelo boat trip on the Douro river, and close with a regional dinner at a local wine estate. The package includes accommodation with breakfast (Pousada da Juventude or Quinta da Seixeda), guides, insurance and an optional transport add-on from Lisbon, with registration closing on August 19.
