The Miranda do Douro Medieval Fair 2026 transports visitors to the Middle Ages for three magical days, August 14-16. Miranda do Douro, Portugal's easternmost city on the Spanish border, is the perfect setting for this historical re-enactment that brings the historic centre to life with medieval characters, craftsmen, musicians and staged combats.

Miranda do Douro is one of Portugal's most unique cities, with one of the finest cathedrals in northern Portugal, an imposing medieval castle, and the distinction of having its own language — Mirandese, an Astur-Leonese dialect recognised as a regional language. The fair leverages this heritage for an authentic immersive experience.

The programme includes medieval processions through historic streets, demonstrations of traditional crafts (blacksmith, potter, weaver), a craft market, wandering musicians, jugglers and magicians. Medieval gastronomy is a highlight, with delicacies prepared from ancient recipes.
